Irish destiny is a love story set against the war of independence produced by DR isaac eppel in 1926 - a scant 10 years after the 1916 easter rising. The film interweaves a romantic narrative with real events - dramatised and told through original newsreel fotage of british occupation and IRA resistance.

For decades believed lost, the IFI irish film archive found an early nitrate print in the US Library of congress in 1991 and restored it to its original tinted and toned glory. A magnificent score, written for the film by Micheal O Suilleabhan and performed by the rte concert orchestra under conductor proinnsias O Duinn, accompanies this most important document of irelands cinematic heritage.
